SJ Hamill Construction has an immediate opening for a Carpentry Superintendent in Charleston, SC. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in carpentry work and proven leadership abilities. As a Carpenter Superintendent, you will be responsible for overseeing all carpentry activities, managing a team of carpenters, and ensuring that projects are completed to high standards of quality and safety.

 

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Supervise and coordinate carpentry work, including framing, finishing, and installation of wood structure
    • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan and execute carpentry projects. Oversee project staff including Craft Superintendents, Foreman, Field Engineers, and other support staff.
    • Manage construction operations for Heavy Civil, Bridge, and Marine project operations including pile driving, concrete formwork, barge handling, and crane operations.
    • Establishes work schedules and ensures appropriate manpower is available for the project.
    • Performs special projects and completes all other duties as assigned or requested for the general support of the organization.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Proven experience as a Carpenter Superintendent or similar role in the construction industry
    • Extensive knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials
    • Strong leadership and communication skills
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications
    • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
    • OSHA certification and knowledge of safety regulations
    • Proficiently navigate and operate computers and tablets.
    • Availability and willingness to work weekends and night shifts per business needs.
    • Availability and willingness to work out of town and travel to project location.

      WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

      Capable of working outside or on the water in variable climates, traversing large active construction sites, and working around welding, cutting, grinding, marine vessels, heavy equipment, cranes, dirt, dust, noise, and vibrations. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands, arms, shoulders, legs, reach with hands and arms and verbally communicate clearly. The employee is sometimes required to climb or balance. Ability to lift and or carry 50 lbs.
