Please take note that National Strand will be relocating to 3959 Oscar Nelson Junior Drive in Baytown, Texas, 77523. Up until the transition is complete, all training and work assignments will be carried out in 12611 Cain Circle, Houston, Texas 77015.

Job Description

Ø Primary Responsibilities

  • Meeting shift output goals to ensure consistent supply of product to the next step in the process.
  • Follow and lead protocols for a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Setting-up and running product correctly based on training and information given on production cards. If problems are detected, stop the process, and make minor repairs or refer major problems to production leadership and/or maintenance.
  • Operating the machines safely and visually observing while in operation.
  • Using overhead cranes and/or forklifts to move product in a safe manner.
  • Making joins in wire product by safely operating electric butt-welding machines.
  • Generating correct identification tags and attaching to finished product.
  • Monitor for quality control and make minor machine repairs when detecting a problem.
  • Ensuring work area is maintained clean and safety standards are followed.
  • Accurately reporting production data as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and assigned area.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older due to work environment and labor laws.
  • Must be able to pass preemployment background, drug/alcohol, and physical screenings.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
  • Must be able to work independently, and as a team.
  • Authorized to work for any employer in the United States of America.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and lift for long periods.
  • Ability to work in a non-climate control environment.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 200lbs (up to 100%).
  • Ability to stand upright, bend or squat (up to 100%).
  • Frequent use of handling and grasping (up to 100%).
  • Available to work overtime and weekends if the schedule requires it.
  • Prior experience of working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment desired.

Qualifications of Coiling Machine Operator

  • The ideal candidate would have experience as a machine operator, machinist, or manufacturing and production.
  • Additional experience as a maintenance technician, auto technician, mechanic, or from construction may also be considered.
  • Fabrication, welding and manual machining skills will be beneficial but not essential.
  • Basic hand tool/machine experience.
  • Ability to collaborate with team members to achieve shared departmental goals.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Detail Oriented.
  • Basic hand tool/machine experience.
  • Must be able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions in English (in relation to safety, quality and manufacturing processes).
