Job Description

JOB PURPOSE: The Controller North America is a leadership position with a development path for advancement opportunities within Kinedyne, Applied Solutions Group (ASG), and The Heico Companies (Heico). This position, reporting to the Vice President – Finance, will be primarily responsible for managing the accounting team, financial reporting, implementation of accounting policies and procedures, internal controls, financial analysis, and ad hoc projects. The successful candidate will be a trusted partner within the company supporting and leading cross-functional initiatives designed to grow our business, improve profitability, and drive efficiencies in working capital and resource utilization. The Controller North America will coach and mentor their staff to take on additional responsibilities and drive efficiencies.

The position will be located in Prattville, AL. This position is expected to be in the office four days a week and may work from home on Fridays.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly supervise Accounting Manager, Cost Accountant, Senior Accountant, and Staff Accountant. The Accounting Manager supervises General Accountant and Lead Accounts Receivable. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Leads staff results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring and appraising job results, coaching, counseling, and correcting employees.


• Oversees all aspects of accounting including, but not limited to, the monthly close and financial reporting, account analysis and reconciliation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, collection, product costing and inventory transactional reporting.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in compliance with GAAP and established ASG and Heico financial deadlines.
• Lead the preparation of the annual budget and periodic midyear P&L, balance sheet and cash flow forecasts.
• Coordinate internal and external audits.
• Direct all sales/use tax and other required state filings.
• Track and report key organizational metrics related to the financial and operational performance. Analyze actual results and trends versus budget/forecast/prior year. Partner with business leaders to help them understand and interpret the reporting and metrics to support their decision-making process.
• Identify opportunities to drive growth, improve profitability, streamline, and improve business processes and enhance internal controls.
• Provide ongoing support for legacy business system application (Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012R3) and future D365 implementation.
• Develop, coach, and mentor accounting staff. Lead the transformation of current team to business partners within the organization.
• Drive corporate initiatives to expand use of internal applications including, Microsoft Office, PowerBI, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Power Automate, Power Apps, etc.


• Working conditions are primarily in a climate-controlled, office setting with time often spent in a manufacturing and warehouse environment.
• Position is based in the Prattville, AL, with ongoing support to locations at the Alabama manufacturing and distribution facilities, New Jersey corporate office, Canada manufacturing and distribution facilities, California distribution center, and home-based employees. Some additional support may include related companies under ASG or Heico.

• Frequent computer use (sitting for extended periods, typing, viewing screen, use of mouse).
• Some travel, including overnight travel, to other Kinedyne, ASG or Heico locations.


• Extensive knowledge of GAAP, regulatory accounting and reporting requirements and internal control objectives. Experience within manufacturing and distribution environment including costing and inventory control. Preference to candidates with government costing experience.
• Proven knowledge and experience in financial planning and analysis and business process improvements.
• Proven experience in coaching and mentoring for advancement.
• Strong computer skills, including deep knowledge of ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics R3 2012 and / or Dynamics 365 preferred). Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel and proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. Experience with Microsoft 365 applications including PowerBI, Power Automate, and PowerApps is preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills to all levels of the organization. The ability to communicate technical information to non-financial team members clearly and concisely.
• Good team skills with the work cross-functionally in a collaborative environment.


• BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required. CPA is required, MBA is preferred.


• At least seven years of professional experience with a minimum of five years of experience managing high performing teams. Minimum of three years of experience working in manufacturing and distribution environments.
