The Position

The Director, Information Technology is responsible for working with IT leadership to develop the long-term vision for the US Wire/MPG organization that produces best practices and usage of technology which enhances the business. This position will work closely with the Chief Information Officer and other key IT stakeholders to execute the short and long-term strategies set by the company.

Job Description  

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plans and directs all activities and operations in the Information Technology department
  • Work with key stakeholders to establish and maintain strategic plans for data and information management
  • Coordinate and oversee strategic IT initiatives and projects including emerging technologies, IT Help Desk, IT architecture, software development, cloud infrastructure, IT organizational alignment, and data strategy
  • Review all aspects of the operations of the department to meet company needs, productivity levels, system security, maintenance needs, upgrade schedules, and operating expenses
  • Provide hands on oversight of the company’s IT function that includes applications, infrastructure, desktop support, and cyber security
  • Lead, coach, and develop an engaged service-oriented IT team
  • Partner with department leaders to evaluate, implement, and support the appropriate IT solutions and integration for business operations
  • Align with leadership on IT priorities
  • Identify security vulnerabilities and reduce risk by deploying strategic solutions that increase data security
  • Evaluate effectiveness, efficiency, and costs of existing technology and systems, research new or alternative solutions, and make recommendations to senior management as appropriate. Maintain working knowledge of new and evolving technologies and system developing or future organization needs
  • Participate as a member of the business leadership team, in strategic planning activities by providing systemic and technologic solutions where business opportunities or challenges are identified

Job Requirements      


  • Four-year bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or relevant field
  • MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional), MCITP (Microsoft Certified IT Professional), MCSE (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert), a plus

Skills & Relevant Work Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in in Information Technology and 5+ years in a management role
  • Understanding of infrastructure systems, security, network, and systems administration, databases, and telecommunications systems.
  • Demonstrated understanding working in the Microsoft Technology Stack (Teams, Outlook, Azure, Power Apps, SharePoint, SQL Server, etc.)
  • Proven experience and skills specializing in the configuration and maintenance of Microsoft Windows Active Directory, DHCP, and DNS
  • Knowledge with integrations/APUS and understanding how data can flow between systems
  • Knowledge and experience working with data visualization and management
  • Success as a team leader: driving the right culture, creating expectations of high performance and accountability
  • Ability to take ownership and coordinate projects from beginning to end, working with various departments and outside organizations effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to establish strong operational and strategic alignment with business unites
  • Capability to drive decisions through consensus, influence change and effectively resolve conflicts
  • Experience with Microsoft D365, a plus
