Job Description

The Position:

This position reports to the Manufacturing Manager, and is responsible for timely and accurate  assembly of assigned product(s), troubleshooting and repairing of mechanical, electrical, electronic assemblies and systems that meet current configuration as defined by engineering. Work includes production, refurbished components, testing, engineering prototype support, and building maintenance.

Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assemble sub-assemblies, final assemblies, and systems per manufacturing drawings, schematics, and instructions
  • Panel/cabinet layout and fabrication
  • Wiring of panels per schematics
  • System wiring of subassemblies to main electrical cabinet
  • Test assemblies as required to meet required design specifications
  • Troubleshoot assemblies down to component level to determine root cause of failure and recommend corrective action
  • Perform required repairs to return assembly to operational state
  • Operate hand tools and small power tools and understand their use and function
  • Inspect all work before passing it on to the next operation
  • Keep Manager and/or Assembly Lead appraised of all unresolved and/or potential problems that would negatively affect production schedules
  • Provide support to the Assembly Leads and Manufacturing Managers on all production assignments, and working other departments (R&D support) regarding special work assignments
  • Conduct Cycle Counts
  • Pick/Inspect Parts and prep for Paint Department
  • Adhere to all Safety policies and guidelines
  • Complete required Safety and Legal Training as assigned
  • Work cooperatively in a Team environment
  • Other duties assigned

Job Requirements:

Skills & Relevant Work Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the electrical machine building field
  • Experience with capital equipment in the tire and rubber industry a plus
  • Knowledge of 110V, 230V, 480V, and 24V DC
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes
  • Must have experience using the following equipment: Volt meter, hand tools, hand crimpers, screwdrivers, wrenched, pliers and other tools as required by assigned work
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes
  • Ability to interpret assembly instructions, work orders, engineering drawings/models, etc. to enable production of parts consistent with current engineering configuration
  • Possess good problem-solving skills, strong digital and analog skills, ability to troubleshoot in a logical manner
  • Ability to work overtime as needed/assigned
  • Professional, clear verbal and written communication

Education:

  • Advanced training in electronic theory from a technical trade school, military training, or an associate degree or equivalent of education and experience

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the Electrical Assembler is required to stand for prolonged periods of time, walk, climb stairs or ladders, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, balance, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance.  May be needed to work more than 8 hours per day and occasional weekends.
