The Position 

The responsibility of the Information Systems Technician is to provide technical assistance to end users to resolve computer problems.  They will provide assistance concerning the use of computer hardware and software as well as help IT staff in the maintenance and operation of network, servers, and telecommunications.

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities

  • Works on assignments that may be moderately difficult, and which require judgement.
  • Respond in-person, via telephone, or electronically to requests for technical assistance from users in a timely manner.
  • Set up and update hardware and software ensuring proper installation and configuration.
  • Assist with user account creation and provisioning of licenses and services.
  • Investigate issues and possible resolutions; referring to technical manuals, conduct computer diagnostics, and conferring with other IT staff to investigate and resolve problems.
  • Performs preventive maintenance to ensure proper functioning of computers and peripherals.
  • Refer major hardware/software problems to supervisor for resolution.
  • Ensure all helpdesk requests and subsequent actions are taken to the point of resolution.
  • Ensure all helpdesk requests are documented accurately and clearly identify the resolution.
  • Assist with notifying affected employees, management, and IT staff when key systems are unavailable.
  • Assist with development of training materials and procedures and training users in the proper use of hardware and software.
  • Assist with ensuring compliance with IT security measures and promptly notify supervisor of any security related concerns.
  • Assist with researching hardware and software requirements and acquiring formal quotes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of IT and other business objectives.
  • Participates in on-call rotation periodically.

Equipment:

Computers, laser printers, barcode printers, copiers, cellphones, mobile computers, barcode scanners, Digital & IP Telephones, and other peripherals.

Software:

Microsoft Applications (Office & Teams), Windows Server 2012R2/2016, Windows 10/7, AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must have two (2) years experience working in a manufacturing environment or must have completed a two-year degree in Information Technology.
  • A+ certification must be obtained within 4 months from date of hire.  Official proof of completion must be provided.
  • Must have troubleshooting skills.
  • Some knowledge of Windows 10 and 7 administration required.
  • Some experience with configuration, installation and troubleshooting of personal computers, software, network/telecom and mobile devices.
  • Ability to maintain and manage IT assets with proper tracking and distribution.
  • Strong sense of service and good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Must possess the knowledge, intellect, temperament, and flexibility to work effectively in a fast-paced, environment.
  • Ability to work an occasional evening or weekend, usually with some advance notice.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, and crawl.
  • Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally required to lift and/or move up to more.
  • Frequently required to use hands and fingers to operate equipment and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to talk and hear.

Work Environment:

  • When working in the general office environment the lighting and temperature (65-75 degrees) are adequate, but some dust and noise will be encountered.
  • When working in the plant environment the lighting and temperature may vary widely depending on the location and seasonal weather.  The plant environment will be dusty and noisy.
  • A hardhat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel toe shoes will be worn in the plant.
