The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic/Electrician, under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, supports the Plant’s Stranded Wire Production by repairing and maintaining the equipment in good operating condition. Duties include (but are not limited to), inspecting, and troubleshooting equipment, cleaning equipment, equipment installation and/or removal, repairing and performing Preventative Maintenance on equipment throughout the plant. Rotating Shifts may be required.

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities

Ø  Medium to advanced knowledge of Electrical Concepts.

o    Installation of VAC Circuits up to 480VAC.

o    DC Circuits.

o    Basic PLC and ladder logic understanding to troubleshoot and repair equipment with PLCs. (You will not be doing any PLC programming).

o    Industrial Controls. Panels, relays, switches, wiring.

o    Able to read, interpret and follow Electrical Diagrams and schematics.

o    Understanding and knowledge of VFDs.

Ø  Advanced Mechanical Skills.

o    Rotating Equipment troubleshooting and repair.

o    Preventive Maintenance Execution.

o    Pneumatics and pneumatic controls and components.

o    Hydraulics and hydraulic controls and components.

o    Inspection of equipment and effective communication with peers and managers.

o    Able to read, interpret and follow mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic diagrams and schematics.

Ø  Technical Skills

o    Must be able to weld using MIG and/or Stick.

o    Use all sorts of equipment and tools for the trade, electrical testing tools as well as mechanical tools.

o    Must understand and follow instructions.

o    Must be SAFE and use the appropriate LOTO procedures.

o    Must be able to learn quickly to operate equipment to test and assure its proper operation.

Ø  Ensuring work area is maintained clean and safety standards are followed.

Ø  Maintain cleanliness of equipment and assigned area.

Ø  Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

•         High School Diploma. Technical School Certifications preferred.

•         Must have at least 3 years of Industrial Maintenance experience.

•         Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities and quickly respond to minimize production delays.

•         Must be able to understand and follow directions.

•         Must be very detail oriented, a top producer and a high quality oriented individual.

•         Must have strong interpersonal, communication and team-based skills.

•         Must be able to walk, climb, stand, sit, kneel, crawl, twist, bend, and squat for a minimum of eight (8) hours per day.

•         Must be able to work rotating shifts and be available for overtime and weekend work.

•         Must be able to pass preemployment background, drug/alcohol, and physical screenings.

•         Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.

•         Must be able to work independently, and as a team.

•         Ability to work in a non-climate control environment.

•         Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 100lbs.

•         Available to work overtime and weekends if the schedule requires it.

•         Prior experience of working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment desired.
