The Position
The Environmental Health and Safety Manager supports the administration and execution of organization environmental, health and safety programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment by performing the following duties personally, through site leadership or the retaining of service providers.
Job Description
- Provide managerial support to ensure Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) in industrial operations.
- Conduct regular site inspections to determine environmental impacts.
- Perform EHS audits and implement audit recommendations.
- Work with management in determining EHS requirements and considerations.
- Develop environmental and safety programs in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.
- Maintain reports of all safety and environmental activities as per OSHA and EPA compliances.
- Educate employees on environmental health and safety and industry best practices.
- Assess potential risks and provide mitigation plans to reduce incidents.
- Investigate incidents and develop corrective action plans.
- Work with management to manage employee’s compensation claims and work assignments.
- Assist in development of pollution and waste control programs.
- Evaluate safety of new industry processes and equipment.
- Develop industrial safety and hygiene policies.
- Perform inventory management for emergency response teams.
- Work with state and federal environmental agencies on permit compliance.
- Ensure the worksite conditions are aligned with permit regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits from internal management as well as regulatory agencies.
- Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
- Work directly with the wastewater pretreatment team for process control and best management practices.
- Compiles and submits accident reports required by company and regulatory agencies.
- Conduct regular waste disposal practices including waste profile and grab sampling.
- Conduct regular stormwater and wastewater sample analysis and best practice regulations.
- Work directly with Air Quality management to ensure NOx credit assurance and gas emission compliance for California.
- Manage the required paperwork, manifests, waste labeling, DOT compliance requirements.
- Understand basic crane and machine operations to work with operators on safe usage and crane hoist operations.
- Ability to drive continuous improvements and best practices in a dynamic work environment.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university program in related field. At least four years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing plant EHS coordination level Safety; familiarity with accident investigation and prevention; applied ergonomics expertise, and in-depth understanding of EPA and OSHA regulations. It is also vital that they have a good understanding of root cause analysis for investigation of incidents
- Strong experience in gathering requirements, analysis, and documentation.
- Proficient computer skills, especially in applications such as Excel, databases, Word, and web-based systems.
- Ability to create and maintain positive and professional business relationships with both internal associates and external customers.
- Proven diagnostic problem solving and solution development capabilities required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
Compensation: $130,000 - $140,000 annual salary

- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
- Prior experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Be able to sit for long periods.
- Ability to work late shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
- Able to lift, push, or pull up to 15lbs.
