 Job Description

  • Manage small and large-scale projects according to strategic company initiates. This includes, but is not limited to planning, executing, monitoring, and project close out.
  • Lead new product / process launches and serve as focal point for other departments to ensure timelines are met and customer requirements are fulfilled. Establish project milestones, develop countermeasure plans when targets are not met, and escalate when appropriate.
  • Lead cost reduction initiatives, compile appropriate information, prepare project proposals, and provide status updates to upper management.
  • Evaluate new and current processes, tools and equipment.       Develop controls/countermeasures to eliminate hazards.
  • Assist with preparation and control of capital budget, and capital requests.
  • Employ Lean manufacturing techniques and actively engage other Team Members throughout the company to further develop a continuous improvement culture.
  • Daily problem solving to address safety, quality, and delivery issues. Develop corrective actions through the 5 why’s and other root cause analysis techniques.
  • Lead in the design and development of new process equipment, tooling, and QA devices that must be produced to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Initiate and manage changes through the EC (Engineering Change) system.
  • Manages production process and quality documentation

Supervisory Responsibility

  • Manufacturing Engineering Intern will report to this position
  • Occasional backfill for production management as needed.

Physical Demands

  • Work overtime beyond 40 hours/week and/or 8 hours/ day dependent on varying business needs.
  • Stand and walk on a concrete or metal surfaces for extended periods (approx. 2-3 hours/each) throughout a standard work shift.
  • Work at a desk for extended periods (approx. 2-3 hours/each) throughout a standard work shift.
  • Ascend and descend work platform stairs or ladders to perform inspections at varying heights.
  • Reach overhead as well as bend, crouch and kneel to floor level.
  • Occasionally lift/carry up to 40 lbs. loads from floor level to chest level. Push/pull items exerting loads up to 40 lbs.
  • Operate and test heavy equipment as needed

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time position. Standard hours are M-F, 6:00am-2:00pm.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 5-7 years Manufacturing Engineering (or) Project Management experience in a related manufacturing environment
  • Strong Safety Background
  • 3 Years of Experience with Lean Manufacturing: Toyota Production System, Six Sigma
  • Capable of managing multiple projects of various complexities
  • Able to manage conflicts and relationships within project teams as well as with other disciplines and departments
  • Able to direct and/or supervise a project team
  • Able to oversee all activities within a project and provide project updates as required
  • Heavy industrial equipment assembly, welding and fabrication background is preferred
  • Proficient with 2D and 3D CAD programs, preferably SolidWorks

Travel

  • Limited travel is required
