Davis Wire-Kent is a manufacturing mill located off 80th Ave S in Kent, WA, specializing in a producing a wide range of wire products. We have a 24-hour operation working over three shifts. This facility does operate with a collective bargaining agreement with Teamsters Local Union. Normal non-union personnel work a typical Monday through Friday schedule, although some overtime is required depending upon position. Production Supervisor position schedule mirrors union employees with 12 days on and 2 days off currently. The Position


Overall Responsibilities and Work Environment:

This position acts as direct labor supervision to 15 to 25 union employees. This position coordinates the activities of these workers who are engaged in operating a variety of machines to manufacture wire products for both internal and external customers. Monitoring employee job performance and production processes upstream and downstream to ensure that production timetables are delivered on consistently and with quality product.


Job Responsibilities:

Supervise employees in production departments, including training, motivation and discipline.

Recommends to Mill Superintendent procedures, systems, equipment and machinery alterations to reduce costs, resolve problems, ensure product quality, reduce scrap and improve production efficiency.

Initiates work orders for maintenance and repair of machinery equipment and vehicles.

Audits hourly employees time cards for accuracy to ensure correct charges against production assignments.

Administers and enforces company rules, regulations and policies.

Ensures compliance of safety programs for personnel and machinery.

Serves as Company representative in first step grievance proceedings as required by the Mill Superintendent, Plant Manager and/or Human Resources Manager.

Evaluates employees overall performance, establishing goals and objectives for proper manufacturing techniques.

Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.

Education and Background:

Bachelors degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years experience in a manufacturing environment and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Some computer experience with word processing, spreadsheet, inventory, manufacturing, and/or logistics software. Ability to learn new software programs quickly and effectively (AX, Velocity, Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS UltiPro, Kronos, Maximo or other similar experience a plus)
