Quality Assurance Coordinator

Since 1943, Spartan has been leading the way in sewer and drain cleaning. Currently we are seeking candidates for a Quality Assurance position at our manufacturing facility in Niles, Michigan.  This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is looking for a hands-on position with advancement opportunities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Devise and implement quality systems/procedures that provide continuous improvement methodology supporting manufacturing and operational consistency.
  • Reports all incoming material discrepancies to management and completes all required documentation.
  • Ownership of the nonconforming material system; implement containment and facilitates the disposition process.
  • Inspect, measure identified product characteristics, and apply tools to defined criteria, analyze, and report results appropriately.
  • Organize and lead problem solving activities for customer quality issues by utilizing & supporting root cause analysis, planning corrective and preventative actions and verifying results.
  • Maintain documents including SOP’s, quality alerts, inspection instructions and critical quality criteria.  
  • Performs dimensional, functional and visual inspections of all in process and finished product and approves products for release.
  • Review and record all material receiving inspection documentation to assure that required inspection is performed on procured material.
  • Perform internal quality audits and assist with external audits of suppliers.
  • Sees that company policies and programs are effectively made known; cooperates and assists in the development of effective communications.
  • Instructs on safe work practices and promotes safety consciousness while practicing safety procedures, enforcing policy regarding safety and making recommendations when needed.
  • Continuously looks for opportunities to build in lean quality control processes.
  • Maintain records and certification files.
  • Manage gage calibration system.
  • Maintain and utilize quality system database.
  • Maintains inter-departmental relationships of such a caliber as to promote confidence, integrity and cooperation.

Desired Qualities:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience with managing quality systems and performing audits
  • Knowledgeable implementing policies, procedures, and work instructions
  • Self-starter with solid documentation and analysis abilities
  • Must have above average communication skills and people skills.
  • Must be machine oriented and mechanically inclined.
