US Wire Group is the parent of three independent companies (five manufacturing facilities) which produce steel wire and cable/wire related products that serve many industries. Products are marketed domestically through a direct sales force, manufacturer's representatives, and an established network of independent distributors. The Sales Manager will be responsible for managing and leading the profitable growth of all product lines which includes planning strategies, recommending new products and initiating promotions to fully utilize the facility’s capabilities. The ideal candidate would have prior experience in construction related sales or estimating; specifically relating to concrete reinforcing steel, rebar and rebar related products. Works under the guidance and direction of the Vice President/General Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages the Customer Service Department and Sales Representatives
  • Provides liaison with plant operations, customer service, production scheduling and shipping to ensure a coordinated effort by all departments
  • Involves himself/herself with quality problems and reviews all customer service complaints with the Customer Service Manager.
  • Submits annual forecast as required for assigned product
  • Prepares and submits forecast updates by the fourth business day each month
  • Participates in trade shows and association meetings as warranted
  • Reviews with CSM lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, internet websites, and other sources
  • Travels throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders, as well as having conversations with customers by phone/e-mail.
  • Reviews all displays for product demonstration, including samples or catalog, and emphasizes salable features with the appropriate senior sales representative or sales representative.
  • Quote prices and credit terms and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained
  • Reviews date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of production and delivery schedules via communications with manufacturing, planning, shipping and customer services.
  • Manages outside sales representatives to keep account activities and literature up to date
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Advanced degree an advantage
  • Previous building product management or related experience
