Job Description

Perform packing duties. Assemble product orders, working from pick lists to determine part numbers, job numbers and quantities to be packed and shipped. Select and pick parts from stock, for shipping, move boxes to shipping area for shipping completion.  Verify accuracy of the parts to be shipped at the computer terminal. Scale count parts, select appropriate cartons and place parts and packing slips therein. Pack cartons with filler to prevent shifting and part damage, close and seal carton with gummed tape. Print out labels and affix to cartons. Move cartons to loading dock using lift truck. Place cartons in assigned locations in warehouse and report shortages.

Must know and follow all plant, departmental and job safety rules.

Must know, understand and demonstrate a thorough knowledge of and follow all applicable safe operating procedures and rules including housekeeping requirements.

Must be able to perform the essential physical requirements necessary for this skill or job area.

Level 2: Includes Duties above plus

Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish department goals.

Posses knowledge in preparing specialty customer requirements.

Provide training to new or Level I Material Handlers.

Shipping Duties:

Load and unload trucks as needed. Utilize forklift to load skids onto outgoing trucks. Assure proper labeling is affixed to outgoing orders.

Receiving Duties:

Unload incoming shipments with forklift, verify number of packages matches the packing slip. Notify shipper if it there are shortages. Check quantity and correctness of items received against our purchase order vs packing slip.

Affix labels for shipping. Keep workstation clean and orderly. 

Level 2: Includes Duties above plus

Responsible for accuracy of the above duties.

Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish department goals.

Provide training to new or Level I Shipper/Receivers.

Certified Forklift Trainer- Responsible for maintaining Train the Trainer certification and conducting PIV Operator training for coworkers.

Level 2: Includes Duties above plus:

Complete daily cycle counts as needed for vacation coverage or other circumstances.

Back up Insert room duties as needed.

Perform additional duties as assigned. Assist in other areas as needed.

Supervisory Responsibility:

No Direct supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibility for Contact with Others Outside of the Company:


Degree of Decision Making Power and Action without Higher Management Approval:

Under close supervision performing routine duties following standard practice.

Significant Mental/Physical Demands of the Job:

Able to work in ambient room temperatures. Flow of work and character of duties involves normal manual dexterity for sustained periods.

Some heavy lifting of boxes up to 50 lbs.

Health and Safety Responsibilities:

Maintain compliance with all Safety Rules and Regulations

Identify and report any safety risks, accidents, incidents (near miss), injuries and property damage at the workplace. Correct use of appropriate personal protective equipment

Specific Training, Knowledge, Skills Required:

  • Fluency in English
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic math skills able to read, write, add and subtract whole numbers.
  • Basic PC skills for data entry
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires excellent mobility and use of proper lifting techniques to avoid injury.
  • Legible penmanship.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to pass forklift certification and operate forklift proficeintly.
  • Must maintain Forklift Train the Trainer Certification(Level 2)
  • Safety Conscious
  • 5S and Lean Principles a plus
