In 1974, pile driving capability was added and our primary market expanded to include construction related to the oil and gas refining industry and the petrochemical processing industry. Expansion continued in 1989 with the addition of marine piling and dock construction capabilities.

This position will report to the Company Controller and support day-to-day, monthly, and year-end operations for the Accounting and Finance Department. 

 Primary Responsibilities

  • Apply knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles in reviewing and preparing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliation for various general ledger accounts with detailed explanations and backup.
  • Work with external and internal auditors to ensure a smooth and timely audit process.
  • Enter financial data such as cash, receivables, payables and accruals, reclassifications, and interdepartmental entries into the general ledger on a daily / monthly basis, as well as preparing supporting reports as part of the monthly close process.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to gather, analyze, and interpret relevant accounting and financial information.
  • Align general ledger accounting practices to support budgeting and forecasting.
  • Analyze financial reports and provide explanations for variances, trends, and anomalies.
  • Champion a continued environment of strong internal controls, identifying improvements and making recommendations. 
  • Review transactions (predominately A/P).
  • Sales / Use tax understanding and returns.  
  • Support D365 ERP implementation. 
  • Performs special projects and complete all other duties as assigned or requested for the general support of the organization.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (completed or currently pursuing) or has an Associate's degree with equivalent work experience. 
  • Five years of experience with general ledgers in a high-volume environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse employee/vendor base.
  • Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
  • Intermediate PC skills with experience using Microsoft office products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
