Position

Bo-Mac Contractors, Ltd. in the New Orleans, LA area is offering challenging and exciting career opportunities for Tugboat Captains. We are seeking qualified candidates that are focused on project success and exceeding customer expectations. Qualified candidates must be able to perform all duties listed below safely and follow all of the company's safety procedures. Position is mainly a single shift operation allowing the Captain to go home every night the majority of the time.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall safety of the crew, boat, tow and cargo during the shift.
  • Safely navigate the boat and tow while assuring that the remainder of the crew performs the daily functions for which the crew is responsible.
  • Ensure that the boat, tow, and crew are operated in compliance with company policies.
  • Confirm that the crew is ready to operate the boat in a safe manner, and that the crew knows their duties.
  • Responsible for making certain all related equipment is in good operating condition.
  • Monitor the loading or discharging of cargo.
  • Preparation, management, and facilitation of safety meetings and safety drills.
  • Performs special projects and completes all other duties as assigned or requested for the general support of the field organization.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience required in the Lower Mississippi River.
  • Constant sitting, reaching, and grasping.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, walking, climbing, and use of hand tools.
  • All aspects of vision are required \u0026ndash; acuity, depth perception, and field of vision.
  • Ability to talk and hear is important for communication between co-workers on safety and operational matters affecting equipment operations.
  • Possess a Master of Towing Certificate / License.

Preferred Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of equipment operating experience, preferred.
