Thermal Design Engineer

SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Thermal Design Engineer will be a technical resource for both internal and external stakeholders as it relates to the design of our various, highly technical product offerings in the thermal design space. This position is a key partner within the New Product Introduction group and is a highly respected and collaborative position with tremendous opportunity for growth.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• In support of the pioneer status for the Wakefield Thermal Brand, develop targeted products for various market segments and introduce these new products into distribution sales channel, including the identification of new products, and expansion of existing products.
• Responsible for the generation of technical documentation.
• Liaise with purchasing to support new vendor development and existing vendor support. Support vendor qualifications and analyze their ability to meet requirements of new and existing products.
• Research and recommend replacement/substitutions in the event of obsoletion or lack of availability.
• Research and stay abreast of market trends within the thermal design space and leverage this data to support competitive, and forward-thinking design work and product offerings.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical engineering, advanced degree highly desirable.
• 3-5 + year’s work experience in a similar role (product development) within a disciplined manufacturing environment.
• Ability to develop schedules for new product releases, set milestones, assess & mitigate risks, develop action plans, coordinate activities and drive results within cross-functional teams
• Advanced SolidWorks skills to include part/assembly modeling and drawing creation
(Thermal simulation a plus).
• A project leader with solid and proven project management skills.
• Proven analytical skills and sound structured approach.
• A high energy, team player who is disciplined and methodical in their approach to their work.
