The Precision Mechanical Assembler – Lead will oversee all hardware installation and mechanical assembly processes for highly complex precision assemblies for the Aerospace and Defense industries. This will be a hands-on leadership role that will be responsible for the organization, planning, and completion of all assembly and hardware installation jobs through that department. This individual will be expected to embrace and exhibit our culture of honesty, integrity, and good corporate citizenship. This is a critical role within the manufacturing team and requires a strong mechanical aptitude, high degree of quality workmanship, along with excellent leadership, organization and communication abilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Strive towards a culture of proactive safety.
- Direct, train and mentor team of mechanical assemblers in daily activities
- Oversee all work in process through area and assign priorities as required
- Assemble highly complex and precision mechanical assemblies to drawing specifications
- Determine resources, equipment, tools, and area layout to ensure maximum throughput
- Maintain adequate inventory of consumable supplies to ensure area effectiveness
- Oversee and ensure product quality for all work performed through area
- Coordinate with and provide feedback to engineering in the planning and execution of new product introduction (NPI) builds through area.
- Creation and maintenance of chassis specific and standard process work instructions
- Installation of various components and hardware per drawing specification as required
- Other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma, or General Education Degree (GED) required, some college or professional certificate preferred
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings per AMSE Y14.5 2018 required
- Ability to read and interpret Aerospace industry specifications and technical work instructions required
- Ability to perform mechanical inspections using surface plate, micro-hite, pin & thread gages along with hand measurement tools required
- Ability to comprehend, organize, and articulate technical information required
- Ability to use Microsoft office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint) required
- Ability to use CNC and or manual measurement equipment preferred
- Prior experience using an ERP system (E2, Oracle, SAP, Infor, Epicor) preferred.
