Engineering Manager

Precision Engineering LLC Uxbridge, MA (Onsite) Full-Time

Precision Engineering is seeking an experienced and high energy Engineering Manager to oversee our Engineering and Programming group. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in improving the job quoting and design process, ensuring efficiency, while enhancing product quality and driving down lead times to support our commercial strategy and planned growth. This position requires strong knowledge of engineering principles, along with hands-on experience in a sheet metal fabrication manufacturing group.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strive towards a culture of proactive safety.
  • Oversee all company product engineering functions to take designs from concept, to prototyping, to production – quoting, design, programming, new product introduction.
  • Lead technical communications for material and part qualifications with external customers.
  • Oversee the job costing process while targeting competitive turn around parameters.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure alignment of manufacturing objectives with overall company goals
  • Ensure proper documentation for projects to include qualifications sheets, drawings, design/engineering notes, budget/cost tracking sheet, etc.
  • Organize appropriate engineering personnel and resources. Schedule and assign duties to engineering personnel according to knowledge, experience, and specific discipline.
  • Build relationships with the sales team and external customers that allows for leverage of Precision Engineering product lines in their applications.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product managers, sales, marketing, and senior leadership, providing regular updates on quoting and product development progress.
  • Encourage continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to optimize product design, development processes, and technical efficiency.
  • Actively support and take ownership of the company's QMS and 5S+Safety Program.
  • Work with production personnel to resolve issues related to methods, tooling, equipment, and product design

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering or similar engineering discipline required.
  • 5+ years in a leadership role, with a heavy focus on quoting, manufacturing & programming.
  • Sheet metal fabrication experience is preferred, CNC Machining background would suffice.
  • Excellent Project Management experience, able to follow a project through from start to finish and successfully delegate roles within a team.
  • Leadership qualities – a positive & influential manager capable of strengthening internal and external relationships while bringing out the best in their staff.
  • A continuous improvement mindset - someone that embraces change and leads the way. 
  • Ability to set priorities and manage risks.
  • Exceptional technical skills to include MS Office, SolidWorks, Amada 4i is a plus.
