Saw Assistant
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promotes a culture of safety and follows all local safety guidelines
- Act as a helper and back-up operator to the saw operator in the following duties.
- Cut extrusions to their required length according to customer requirements and properly stack them onto age carts.
- Record accurate counts of material cut and see that all material is properly identified and dimensionally correct before it is transferred to the tempering department.
- It is the requirement of the Saw Assistant and Operator, with every age cart, to measure the length of the part as the first product is placed on the rack, in the middle of the rack and as the last part is placed on the age cart. Record dimensions on the Daily Saw Report (QC-50).
- Monitors machine fluid level.
- Ensures quality of parts before forwarding them to the next operation.
- Reports any unsafe conditions to Supervisor/Management.
- Responsible for cleanliness of his/her own work area and the general housekeeping of the Company.
- Actively participate, in all established company health and safety training programs, and comply with all policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma, or General Education Degree (GED).
- Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Frequent mental and visual attention where the flow is intermittent with intermittent checking. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and occasionally required to walk, sit, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. The employee must be able to work in a hot environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to airborne particles and chemicals. The noise level is usually very loud. The employee is required to wear safety glasses, hearing protection and safety shoes.
