Cement Finishers - Denver, CO
FINISHER/CEMENT MASON
The Finisher / Cement Mason is responsible for placing, finishing, protecting, and repairing concrete on commercial and industrial construction projects, specifically those involving formwork systems. This role involves working with a variety of concrete finishes and surface treatments to achieve required textures and specifications. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in smoothing and finishing surfaces, setting forms, and applying curing and sealing compounds, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity in a fast-paced work environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Responsibly perform the duties of the craft and provide their own personal hand tools as described in the Local Union Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Activities primarily include the patching of concrete.
- Other duties may include the placement of vertical and/or horizontal concrete, handling of concrete buckets, use of power tools such as a mechanical vibrator, operating motorized equipment, standing, walking on narrow work surfaces at considerable heights above the ground with fall protection measures in place, for the placement of concrete type materials.
- Operate hand and motorized equipment including trowels, troweling machines, vibra screeds, concrete saws, angle, and floor and ceiling grinders, drills, hammers, and chisels.
- Read a tape measure in feet and inches, and perform basic math functions.
- Working during inclement weather, could be exposed to extreme cold and heat, noise and dust from construction operations depending upon project site.
- Smooth and level concrete poured into formwork for slabs, walls, columns, sidewalks, and other structural elements.
- Ensure proper surface preparation and finishing techniques based on project requirements and specifications.
- Apply curing, sealing, or hardening compounds to concrete surfaces as needed and patch voids and repair surface imperfections using proper finishing techniques.
Minimum Qualifications
- Work requires alert individuals with good balance and physical strength.
- Must be able to frequently lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds of material and up to 90 pounds of material with assistance, if requested.
- Must be able to frequently walk, bend, kneel, reach and climb.
- Must be able to speak and understand instructions and directives in English.
- Preference given to candidates with a minimum of two years of concrete construction work experience as a Cement Mason that meets or exceeds performance expectations.
- Certification in crane signaling and rigging.

Salary range for this position is $26.00 to $28.00/hour based on experience.
