Estimator
Estimator 1 is responsible for supporting the estimating process by preparing detailed cost estimates for electrical construction projects. They focus on gathering data, analyzing project requirements, and assisting in the development of accurate bid proposals.
Key Responsibilities
- Review all construction documents including bid instructions and overall scope of work.
- Solicit subcontractor and vendor quotes to ensure coverage on scope of work.
- Distribute plans, specifications and addenda to subcontractors/vendors.
- Participate in pre-and post-bid meetings and site visits as required.
- Prepare estimates by performing a complete scope of work takeoff.
- Review take-off and pricing on all self-performed work.
- Review assigned subcontractor and vendor quotes for plan and specification compliance.
- Understand the National Electric Code to determine if drawings meet code requirements for accuracy and completeness.
- Advise on design errors or potential cost savings.
- Generate and track pre-bid RFIs.
- Maintain and update the Estimating Cost Database.
- Perform special projects and completes all other duties as assigned or requested for the general support of the organization.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, related degree and/or equivalent work experience plus two years of work experience supporting similar key position responsibilities in the commercial electrical industry.
- Electrical trade school, Licensed Journeyman or Master Electrician License, a plus.
- Knowledge in estimating software (Accubid/Trimble, Mcormick, ConEst, etc.)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, as well as with customers and vendors.
- Detail oriented with the ability to efficiently analyze and organize significant amounts of information regarding plan layouts, material deliveries and jobsite productivities.
- Function effectively as part of a team and coordinate scope of work between trades (HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection & Alarm, etc.)
