The Company 

Pettibone, LLC is wholly owned by The Heico Companies, LLC, a privately held, $2B revenue company that specializes in acquiring distressed assets, improving their performance and holding them for the long term. The Heico Companies manages diverse businesses through four platforms; Metal Processing, Construction, Ancra, and Pettibone. The Pettibone Platform consists of 11 distinct companies that produce a variety of highly engineered products. Each of these businesses is run as a stand-alone company with its own P&L. Internationally, Pettibone LLC sells in more than 60 countries through an independent distributor network, company sales representatives, licensees and agents. Our company is diverse and has a solid management base, product/market niches and efficient manufacturing capabilities.

Position Summary

The Corporate Controller is a key strategic partner who manages and directs all accounting, compliance and internal control related systems, initiatives and processes across the Platform. The Corporate Controller identifies opportunities to instill best practices while improving efficiency and the standardization of procedures and oversees the Platform’s Financial Reporting function.

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead activities and initiatives of Platform accounting functions, including those related to financial reporting and potential shared services opportunities
  • Platform lead for financial related modules of ERP implementations; ensure consistency, as appropriate, across all businesses
  • Oversee all aspects related to preparation and review of financial statements including those of the Platform and subsidiaries, internal and external; assure adherence to GAAP
  • Develop Platform financial policies and procedures; oversee compliance with Heico level policies and procedures including the Company-wide Control Self-Assessment (CSA) internal control data base
  • Support improvement in business performance through effective cost control and monitoring, with particular emphasis on profitability and cash flow
  • Evaluate all financial systems and procedures and implement changes and improvements to increase accuracy, control and timely reporting
  • Identify opportunities to improve the business through process changes, automation, technology advancements and data analysis
  • Oversee activities related to T&E and P-Card spend
  • Support Platform investment efforts including acquisition due diligence as well as investment return analysis for proposed and executed business acquisitions and capital investments
  • Support assessment of business investment and tax credit opportunities at operating locations
  • Liaison with Corporate property manager; assist CFO in assessing facility utilization and needs, capacity constraints/opportunities and lease commitments
  • Provide guidance to business units heads related to the preparation of annual budgets; lead Platform Finance efforts to improve business unit forecasting accuracy
  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality
  • Support CFO in staffing assessment across Platform
  • Drive and support compliance and ethical processes and behaviors throughout the business

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting is required, CPA strongly preferred
  • A solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and costing are essential
  • Prior Controller experience in a manufacturing setting where financial best practices were previously established a plus
  • Experience with process improvement and ERP system implementation strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, management and organization skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including a proficiency to present complex business issues to Company, Group and Parent level management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products including advanced Excel skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel an estimated 25%; possibly more related to certain projects and initiatives
