Job Description

Director of Financial Reporting and Assistant Controller reports to the Corporate Controller, and will assist Heico Corporate Finance in transitioning into a more sophisticated analytical and reporting group to meet the evolving needs of the companys executive management team.This position is located at 27501 Bella Vista Parkway, Warrenville, IL 60555.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze technical accounting matters impacting the organization. Prepare position papers and related analyses to support accounting conclusions reached as required

  • Lead purchase accounting for acquisitions, including internal preparation of fair value estimates and directing the efforts of fair value specialists

  • Oversee the monthly financial reporting process. Ensure submissions from business units are accurate and appropriate for consolidation

  • Review the total company consolidation and determine/reflect adjustments required to achieve accurate financial reporting

  • Prepare financial statements and related disclosures to satisfy external reporting requirements

  • Obtain a comprehensive understanding of debt agreements. Perform quarterly debt compliance calculations and prepare related certifications

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of new accounting standards and work with the operating companies to analyze any potential impact to the company; Lead the company-wide implementation of new accounting standards

  • Monitor potential impairment exposures and lead any fair value analysis required

  • Work with business units to understand and evaluate significant company-wide reserves and contingencies

  • Assist with the development/updating of accounting and financial reporting policies for the organization

  • Direct the preparation for and execution of the annual external audit; including responding to requests and inquiries from external auditors, gathering data from site locations and following up on open issues

  • Prepare financial reporting and analysis for internal management needs throughout the year

  • Develop proficiency with the companys consolidation software (SAPs business objects) and assist corporate finance in developing tools to improve efficiency of monthly reporting process

  • Provide ideas and solutions for automating data gathering and reporting processes

  • Assist business units and their related operating platforms to optimize use of the consolidation software and reporting capabilities

  • Assist in due diligence for acquisition targets as needed

  • Develop and present training and other guidance for operating companies for new accounting standards and other reporting areas of emphasis

  • Supervise the performance of Senior Staff Accountant

Job Requirements

Job Requirements

  • Minimum Undergraduate degree in Accountingnbsp;

  • CPA required

  • 10-15 years of accounting experience, preferably with manufacturing or construction or similar industries

  • Public accounting experience a plus

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel

  • Experience working in team environments

  • Experience working with consolidation software (SAPs Business Objects, Hyperion, etc.) a plus

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
