The Position

The Environmental Health Safety (EHS) Specialist is primarily responsible for the prevention and elimination of injuries and illness to the environment, all employees, customers, and other visitors to our facility, and grounds.


Job Description

Primary Responsibilities


  • Ensure that EHS activities are in full compliance with all related Heico MESH Safety Standards, OSHA, DOT, EPA, DEC regulations achieve all Safety Goals established.




  • Provide Monthly Status Reports to the VP, Operations. Include all Safety related Metrics, training, and any significant milestones achieved.

  • Monitor Compliance and Activities. Ensure full compliance with all training and goals as set by the organization.




  • Maintain All EHS Related Certifications and Training for All Employees, Contractors, and Visitors




  • Work with all departments to ensure processes and records are accurately maintained. Coordinate Internal Audits and Conduct Management Reviews as needed to ensure full Compliance, CAPA, and to drive Continual Improvement. Conduct and coordinate safety and first aid training to inform workers about all safety related policies, laws, and practices.





  • Develop a standard and implement an organizational Safety and Cleanliness culture that makes our facility a world class manufacturing operation while creating an atmosphere of personal responsibility and accountability.




  • Work with all departments to develop and support a Safety culture that is embraced by all employees. Drive Continual Improvement through Safety Incentives, Concern Near Miss, First Aid Reporting, and CAPA.





  • Monitor and document Preventative Maintenance activities.




  • Complete required Safety and Legal Training as assigned

  • Other duties as assigned



Essential Functions of the Role



  • Identify and develop the necessary processes, procedures and documentation to Maintain OSHA and ISO certification

  • Develop a standard and implement an organizational safety and cleanliness culture that makes our facility a world class manufacturing operation -- Work with all departments to support the plant 5S program plan and develop a Safety culture that is embraced by all employees

  • Ensure EHS activities are in full compliance with all related Company Standards and OSHA, DOT, EPA, DEC regulations.Monitor and maintain accurate records

  • Improve the safety program and culture by expanding awareness while creating accountability and responsibility.

  • Monitor recordable accident and near miss rate

  • Provide all required EHS Training throughout company

  • Maintain Employee Safety Certifications

  • Maintain Environmental Permits

  • Maintain OSHA Compliance Throughout Building

  • Manage Daily inspection sheets

  • Manage the monthly section safety inspections throughout the building

  • Conduct Monthly Spot Checks of Critical Programs

  • Maintain Contractor Safety Program

  • Knowledge of OHSAS and Workers Compensation Guidelines

  • Proficient in English with excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong data collection and analysis skills.

  • Strong organization ability.

  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout Company organization.

  • Team player and have ability to work independently

Job Requirements

Education

Bachelors Degree in a safety related field. Minimum of 3 years of related work experience

Knowledge, Skills Experience (Essential)


  • Extensive OSHA, DOT, EPA, DEC Regulations knowledge

  • Extensive knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety Management Systems




Knowledge, Skills Experience (Desirable)


  • Knowledge of manufacturing best practices

  • ERP/MRP Systems knowledge; ICIM is preferred

  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Access, MS Outlook

  • Ability to multi task in a fast pace environment
