Job Description

Currently we are seeking candidates for an Electrical Engineer Co-op position at our manufacturing facility in Niles, Michigan. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is looking for a hands-on position with advancement opportunities. The Electrical Engineer will work as part of team with mechanical and industrial engineers to create systems and automation for manufacturing equipment, test stands and procedures, PCB design, and harnesses for consumer and on-road equipment.

Responsibilities include:

Designing and specifying electrical systems and components for durable goods and on-road equipment

Building prototypes, products and systems for demonstration

Setting up and running laboratory tests

Creating reports with test results to analyze design and production issues

Designing testing procedures and coordinating production testing

Maintaining national and international electrical codes as required by CSA, UL, and other regulatory bodies

Develop proper safety and preventive maintenance procedures

Participating in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs codes and other artifacts

Design of PCBs with power, analog and digital elements for (automotive) DC voltage

Trouble shooting to component level of embedded devices

Providing production support of electrical/electronic assembly and installation

Designing wire harness diagrams and providing production support of related assembly issues

Designing and assembly of test boxes, software/hardware validation testing, and prototyping engine and motor control applications Documentation and report generation

Designing, building, and maintaining automation controls for manufacturing


Student working toward a BSEE with a minimum of 3 years of engineering coursework is preferred.

Experience and interest in durable goods manufacturing, automotive, or automation industries preferred

Some experience in PCB and harness design is needed

Test and assembly experience is needed

Hands on experience with common electrical and mechanical tools

Good team-oriented problem-solving ability

Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal communication skills and organizational skills.

Proficiency AutoCAD/Inventor or equivalent

Lean Six Sigma experience is a plus
