Job Description

Under direction of the General Manager, the Manager of Engineering will be primarily responsible for all engineering and technical services activities at Wakefield Vette. This position oversees and is responsible for the direct management of the engineering team and maintaining dynamic and successful relationships with our sales force, clients and internal management team.

Provide technical assistance and leadership to manufacturing for process optimization, change control, troubleshooting, and material processing.
Identify process, tooling, and automation opportunities to support high volume manufacturing at desired quality levels, reduced cost, product repeatability, and provide front line support for manufacturing and field quality issues.
Oversee the design and evaluation of new tooling concepts, process methods, and equipment automation to support increased throughput capability.
Organize appropriate engineering personnel and resources. Schedule and assign duties to engineering personnel according to knowledge, experience, and specific discipline.
Provide leadership to engineering team to ensure that projects are accomplished on-time and within budget parameters.
Lead evaluation and refining of automated machinery processes to complete exact tasks on time and within budget.
Lead technical communications for material and part qualifications with external customers.
Mentor engineers in all aspects of concept development, analysis, design and specification.
Build relationships with the sales team and external customers that allows for leverage of Wakefield Vettes product lines in their applications.
Implement lean methodologies within engineering group, and champion lean principles throughout facility.
Guide the growth and development of the engineering team through training and mentorship.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve and enhance manufacturing processes and product designs.

Job Requirements

Minimum of ten years related work experience preferably in an automation engineering discipline.
Minimum 5 years in a leadership role overseeing an engineering team within a fast paced, advanced manufacturing facility.
Thermal design experience.
Experience with punch press, tooling design, and CNC manufacturing operations highly desirable.
Excellent Project Management experience, able to follow a project through from start to finish and successfully delegate roles within a team.
Leadership qualities a positive influential manager capable of strengthening internal and external relationships while bringing out the best in their staff.
Ability to set priorities and manage risks.
