Job Description

SUMMARY:
Operates various types of saws both automatic and semi-automatic to perform such operations as cross cutting and mitering of metal. Will perform machine set up and work from drawings, sketches and samples.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Positions rams and stop on machine table according to specifications of cut.
Starts machine, places metal against guides and sets feed.
Performs end cut and cycles one part.
Measures cut stock from machine using height gage, caliper or square to verify against specifications.
Maintains production count.
Record production data.
Monitors machine fluid level.
Ensures quality of parts before forwarding them to the next operation.
Reports any unsafe conditions to Supervisor/Management.
Responsible for cleanliness of his/her own work area and the general housekeeping of the Company.
Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma, or General Education Degree (GED).
Previous manufacturing experience preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Frequent mental and visual attention where the flow is intermittent with intermittent checking. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and occasionally required to walk, sit, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. The employee must be able to work in a hot environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to airborne particles and chemicals. The noise level is usually very loud. The employee is required to wear safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hats and safety shoes. Gloves are job specific.
