Job Description

Drives Business Results –

  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations. Escalate all unsafe conditions so they can be promptly addressed.
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain various types of construction equipment and components.
  • Interact with customers, maintain positive customer relations, and demonstrate expert abilities by professionally describing future repairs needed.
  • Maintain accountability of all company tools and equipment.
  • Diagnose highly sensitive electronic components using various computer applications.
  • Troubleshoot complex hydraulic systems and high-pressure components.
  • Repair circuit boards and other highly technical electronic components
  • Fabricates equipment by cutting, burning, and welding various metals.
  • Repairs equipment by using welding techniques and appropriate welding equipment.
  • Track all hours worked on specific assignments.
  • Conduct an inspection prior to any machines leaving the location.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with coworkers, share my knowledge, and assist where I am needed to maintain a productive work environment. 

Job Requirements


Experience and Education:

  • Experience:  5+ years proven experience as a mechanic.
  • Education:  Technical degree is preferred.
  • Communication:  Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal communication.


Other Requirements:

  • Excellent knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical and other systems and their components.
  • Good knowledge of methods and standard practices of welding.
  • Experience using tools and equipment common in welding to fabricate, fit, assemble, and repair parts and equipment.
  • Strong mechanical skills, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting and repair.
  • Highly motivated, pro-active, self-starter.

Supervisory Responsibility - This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work - This is a full-time position. Typical work hours are Monday thru Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.  Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.


Travel – This position requires occasional travel, including travel outside the local area and overnight.

Work Environment –

  • Work both inside and outside.
  • When inside, frequently exposed to drafts, changing temperatures, and noise which is difficult to talk above.
  • When outside, sometimes work in bad weather, in mud or snow, and in wet or icy areas.
  • Both inside and outside, workers are exposed to irritations and discomfort from dust, grease, heat, and fumes. They typically work on parts and systems which are dirty, oily, or greasy.
  • Subject to cuts, burns, chemical irritations, bruises, electrical shock, and injuries from falls while repairing, positioning, and moving equipment.
  • Follow prescribed safety practices and use safety equipment such as hearing protection, hard hats, hard-toe shoes, gloves, respirators, and protective clothing. Some of these safety items may be uncomfortable to wear or use and may be worn or used for long periods.
  • Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and moving mechanical parts.


Physical Requirements –

  • Able to work in tiring or uncomfortable positions for long periods.
  • Frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching.
  • Work on top of, under, and in tight compartments of vehicles in cramped or awkward positions.
  • Perform strenuous work while standing, lying, or sitting.
  • Frequently lift and carry items, unassisted, weighing up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds), and often exert similar effort in pushing, pulling, and positioning parts, assemblies, and equipment.
  • Frequently lift and move heavier items with the assistance of other workers or with lifting devices such as jacks, hoists, and cranes.
  • Sometimes required to work from ladders or work platforms at varying heights.
