Job Description

Assist Supervisor: Assist supervisor in managing production cell. Notify supervisor of any issues with manpower, equipment or material that would prevent the cell from meeting the daily production requirements.

Ability to perform all manufacturing operations within the cell: Must be able to perform the following machines / operations within the cell and be able to train / assist operators:

  • Oven
  • Lapping
  • Final packing

Must know, understand and demonstrate a thorough knowledge of and follow all applicable safe operating procedures and rules including housekeeping requirements.  Must be able to perform the essential physical requirements necessary for this skill or job area. Provide knowledgeable on safety requirement and able to train new operators on safety related issues.

Inventory Management: Responsible for managing work in process inventory and monitoring the material flow through the aging process. The cell leader must also coordinate the flow of material through the oven, the aging process and lapping to ensure that the production schedule is achieved.  Packaging specific to this process must also be monitored and the supervisor notified of any shortages or additional material handling resources needed (Bins, carts, trays, etc).

Complete department administrative duties: Enter daily production data for all operators. Monitor production quantities to manufacturing order. Maintains department schedule as directed by supervisor. Monitor and enforce good housekeeping practices within the cell area.

Cell product quality: Responsible for maintaining good quality though out the manufacturing cell. Continuously perform visual inspection on parts, reject obvious pieces with defects. Perform required quality inspections and complete QC documentation. Must be able to communicate quality requirements to operators within the cell. Work with operators, supervisor and Quality Assurance Manager for quality solutions. 

Communication: The cell leader is responsible for communicating the status of the inputs and outputs of the cell to the necessary parties. This includes monitoring the incoming supply of molded parts, the throughput of the oven and lapping operations along with the status of parts through the aging process. The cell leader should alert the supervisor of any areas of concern.

Complete additional Duties as assigned: Complete additional duties as necessary. This may include covering for absent operators, relieving operators for breaks / lunch or performing other tasks as needed.
