Job Description

Position Summary:

2nd Shift Inspector to provide detailed in-process, first piece, and first article inspections on brazed enclosures and heat exchangers

Key Responsibilities and Daily Priorities:

  • Perform routine checks, tests, and instrument inspections of received materials, goods in-process, and finished goods.
  • Ability to properly handle and use inspection equipment and other instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gage, pin gages, plug/thread gages, radius gages, Hexagon CMM (PC DMIS).
  • Create and manage storage of first article inspection reports (FAIR) bubble prints in accordance with AS9102.
  • Interpret planning documents, tool design and engineering drawings, specifications and quality inspection procedures to develop clear, complete, and precise records of inspection.
  • Responsible for inspecting raw material, metal castings, forgings, extrusions, and machined parts.
  • Interpret quality documentation to standards and purchase orders (material certifications, test reports, chemical and process certifications).
  • Document production non-conformances in accordance with prescribed procedures.
  • Familiarity with aerospace plating and processing standards, such as anodizing, chem.-film, passivation, chrome plating, silver plating, etc…
  • Able to achieve in a fast paced inspection room and be able to prioritize work flow.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Proficiency in CMM programming is preferred but not required.
  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) - ANSI 14.5Y.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 preferred.
  • IPC-A-610/J-STD-001 certification, a plus.
  • Proficient in trigonometry and shop math.
  • Good communication, reading, and computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

 Years of Experience required: 5-10 years mechanical inspection experience.

Education Requirements: minimum Associates Science Degree or Equivalent.  Trade and Vocational programs welcomed.

Working Conditions:  Production/Shop floor environment. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.  Ability to work extended hours (overtime) as required to support production.
