Engineering Technician
POSITION SUMMARY:
As an Engineering Technician, you’ll play a key role in bringing new products to life and improving existing designs. You’ll collaborate with engineers, suppliers, and production teams to ensure designs are accurate, manufacturable, and efficient.
Responsibilities:
- Designing new products and revising existing designs.
- Creating 3D models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
- Preparing and maintaining accurate engineering documentation (BOMs, drawings, ECOs).
- Applying advanced detailing and drafting skills for complex components and assemblies.
- Coordinating projects, collaborating with suppliers, and supporting testing and validation activities.
- Working closely with manufacturing and production to ensure seamless handoff from design to build.
- Supporting research and development initiatives for new technologies and product improvements.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology (or equivalent).
- 3+ years of experience in design, analysis, and project support within custom equipment, heavy machinery, or metal fabrication.
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks, especially Weldments, Sheet Metal, and large assemblies.
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability/Assembly (DFM/DFA) and GD&T.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems
- FEA knowledge is an asset.
- Strong analytical skills with a solid background in materials.
- Project management skills, including planning, organizing, and problem-solving.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners.
