Job Description

The Logistics Specialist will be responsible for supporting and advising on the global logistics design and strategy, including logistics and trade compliance. The position is also responsible for key buying/planning duties as assigned. Key areas include:


  • Develop and implement a comprehensive global logistics strategy. Understand business, regional and market differences, changes and needs based on specific complexities. Translate business needs and priorities into logistics strategies and programs that contribute to driving growth and customer service while reducing costs.

  • Develop processes for worldwide shipping of products (emphasis on inbound) that meet all regulatory and legal requirements relative to duties, fees, and controls.

  • Identify and implement best practices in all aspects of logistics.

  • Develop and implement global Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) with supplemental visual dashboards to drive continuous improvement programs.

  • Align with global Supply Chain goals and improvement activities to include, but not limited to:

    • Supply/Sourcing changes

    • Cost Reduction Activities

  • Manage relationships with logistics vendors (third party logistics, freight auditors, and transportation providers) to minimize cost while maintaining quality and timeliness expectations.

  • Leverage Information Technology resources to develop and implement best practice infrastructure within ERP system.

  • Develop and implement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement programs.

  • Management of risk through monitoring Logistics Network Design and global events.


  • Plan and execute procurement of finished goods and raw materials from global and domestic suppliers.

  • Convert and communicate demand requirements for products and services into detailed plans and schedules for inventory acquisition.

  • Manage the purchasing cycle, including generating requisitions, PO creation, PO follow-up, goods reception and final payment.

  • Ensure the continuous availability of quality materials and finished components.

  • Manage output of materials requirement planning (MRP).

  • Maintain data integrity for planning/purchasing MRP elements and master data.

  • Monitor and maintain MRP elements, including handling exceptions and taking action to optimize inventory.

  • Manage the operational supplier relationship and liaison with the Sourcing Team to evaluate suppliers through key metrics.

  • Provide supply forecasts to suppliers and internal customers

  • Follow up on past due elements

  • All other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Economics or Finance required. Bachelors degree in other field with equivalent experience also considered. Evidence of ongoing professional development highly desirable.

  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience related to global logistics with specific network design, 3PL management, and operations.

  • A minimum of 3+ years of experience in purchasing and planning functions.

  • Demonstrated competency with international and domestic carriers and contract negotiations.

  • Expertise in network optimization, product flow / cycle time analysis, operations planning, and cost to serve analysis.

  • Significant competency and knowledge of global duty, tax and compliance requirements.

  • Strong communicator to all levels of management.

  • Ability to plan, effectively communicate plans, and work cross-functionally

  • Ability to work effectively with external suppliers and properly evaluate tradeoffs in managing logistics costs.

  • Must be forward thinker and able to implement plans for the management of logistics.

  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills

  • High degree of competency in MS Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Reliable attendance and regular on-site interaction with the team is required.
