Davis Wire, Kent is a manufacturing mill located off 80th Ave S in Kent, WA specializing in a producing a wide range of wire products. We have a 24-hour operation with maintenance department working 12 hour shifts with alternating 4 and 3 day work weeks, different shift opportunities available. This facility is part of Teamsters Local Union and membership in the union is required

Broad Functions and Responsibilities

Machinist use machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders, and saws to produce precision metal parts. Machinist is responsible for fabricating replacement and new parts for facility machinery.  In conjunction with electricians, mechanics, operators, and supervision investigate and diagnose equipment failure and develop/implement corrective action.


TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:  All types of power and hand tools common to the trade including calipers, micrometers, scales and gauges. Must have own tools and equipment. Specialty tools will be provided.

MATERIALS:  All types of ferrous, non-ferrous and non-metallic materials, oil/lubricants, grinding compounds and  other materials as required.

PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS:    Must be able to walk, stand, sit, kneel, crawl, twist, bend and squat for a minimum of 8 hours per day. Must be able on occasion to lift/carry 100+ pounds.

Principal Accountabilities/Duties:

  1. Using blueprints, sketches, and machine parts manufactures replacement and expendable components as needed to support production.
  2. Working understanding and comprehension of Geometry, Trigonometry, Logarithms, as well as tolerances and general fit and function.
  3. Defines and/or manufactures tooling, fixtures, jigs as required to support manufacture of replacement parts and expendable components.
  4. Defines and maintains document database to support manufacture of replacement parts and expendable components.  Including inspection and out sourcing specifications.
  5. Defines and maintains material and machine tool inventory required to support manufacture of replacement parts and expendable components.
  6. Must be able to operate:
    • Engine lathe
    • Bridgeport mill
    • Horizontal mill
    • Vertical mill
    • Vertical turret lathe (Bullard)
    • Surface grinder
    • Radial arm drill.
    • Electrical and pneumatic tools.
  7. Secure and complete required department work order documentation
  8. Maintains required housekeeping in and around general work area.
  9. Observes all safety rules and safety procedures.
  10. Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.
