Job Description

Broad Functions and Objectives

Assembles, fabricates, repairs, overhauls, adjusts, aligns, installs and removes new and used machinery and industrial equipment.  In conjunction with electricians, machinists, operators, and supervision investigate and diagnose equipment failure and develop/implement corrective action.

TOOL AND EQUIPMENT: Power and Hand tools associated with the trade including wrenches, hammers, drills, saws, gauges, welding and torch cutting. Must own your own tools. Specialty tools provided by the Company

MATERIALS: Works on a variety of machines and equipment in and around the plant. Works around and with various lubricants and chemicals.

Principal Accountabilities/Duties:

  1. Employee must be able to demonstrate their ability to:
    • Rebuild gearboxes including identify and repair failures related to cams, sprockets, pulleys, bearings, bushings and various other mechanical components. 
    • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems including, pumps, motors, cooling towers, heat exchanges, vales and other components.
    • Demonstrate a working proficiency with low voltage electrical practices
    • Demonstrate a working proficiency with stick welding and torch cutting.
  2. Dismantle machinery or equipment to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  3. Inspects used or worn parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  4. Adjusts functional parts of machines, equipment and control instruments.
  5. Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  6. Lubricates and cleans parts.
  7. Start and run machinery to test their performance.
  8. Sets up rigging for moving or handling equipment or heavy parts.
  9. Design, fabricate and install new and replacement equipment or components.
  10. Take/monitor and document observations, settings, readings, meters, gauges as required.
  11. Secure and complete required department work order documentation.
  12. Maintains required housekeeping in work area.
  13. Follows all safety rules and safety procedures.
  14. Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to stand/sit for a period of 8+ hours. Must be able to crawl, stoop, bend, twist, and climb. Must be able to lift up to 100+ pounds on rare occasions.
