Davis Wire, Kent is a manufacturing mill located off 80th Ave S in Kent, WA specializing in a producing a wide range of wire products. We have a 24-hour operation working over three shifts with voluntary shift selection whenever possible. This facility is part of Teamsters Local Union and membership in the union is required. Currently working 12-hour shifts with 3 days on and 4 days on alternating each week.  We offer full benefit options for yourself and your family after eligibility period including medical, dental, vision, health or dependent savings account options, employee assistance program (mental health benefits), basic and voluntary life and ad&d coverage, pension, 401k, paid holidays, sick time and vacation time. The Position Overall Responsibilities and Work Environment:

Assembles, fabricates, repairs, overhauls, adjusts, aligns, installs and removes new and used machinery and industrial equipment.  In conjunction with electricians, machinists, operators, and supervision investigate and diagnose equipment failure and develop/implement corrective action. The environment is a mill/production warehouse located off 80th Ave S in Kent, WA.

1st shift – 7:00am-7:30pm

3rd shift – 7:00pm-7:30am

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Employee must be able to demonstrate their ability to:
    • Rebuild gearboxes including identify and repair failures related to cams, sprockets, pulleys, bearings, bushings and various other mechanical components. 
    • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems including, pumps, motors, cooling towers, heat exchanges, vales and other components.
    • Demonstrate a working proficiency with low voltage electrical practices
    • Demonstrate a working proficiency with stick welding and torch cutting.
  2. Dismantle machinery or equipment to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  3. Inspects used or worn parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  4. Adjusts functional parts of machines, equipment and control instruments.
  5. Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  6. Lubricates and cleans parts.
  7. Start and run machinery to test their performance.
  8. Sets up rigging for moving or handling equipment or heavy parts.
  9. Design, fabricate and install new and replacement equipment or components.
  10. Take/monitor and document observations, settings, readings, meters, gauges as required.
  11. Secure and complete required department work order documentation.
  12. Maintains required housekeeping in work area.
  13. Follows all safety rules and safety procedures.
  14. Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.
Requirements Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Learn basic to complex machine maintenance techniques and follow safety protocols.

Safely use various tools and precision equipment with necessary fine and gross motor function.

Read, write, and understand written instructions, drawings, and documents in English.

Perform physical work, including lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds, pushing or pulling up to 100 pounds.

Stand and walk constantly, with frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, and climbing stairs.

Work in an indoor un-heated/cooled warehouse environment and wear all required personal protective equipment.

Education and Background:

High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

Drug free work environment. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening.

Previous experience in mill environments, construction or automotive environments a plus.

Ability to provide professional references a plus.
