Job Description

The Position

The maintenance technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.

Essential Functions

  • Perform routine and emergency building, grounds, and equipment maintenance tasks, improvement projects, safety inspections and general cleaning.
  • Must be able to work weekends and overtime as required or scheduled. Must be willing to come in as called for issues that occur past normal operating hours.
  • Maintain facility grounds including but not limited to custodial responsibility of lobby and restrooms, ice/snow removal and lawn maintenance.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Write, schedule, and perform preventative maintenance and service.
  • Perform a variety of functions including: plumbing, electrical, general construction/carpentry, and equipment operation
  • Operate heavy machinery including forklifts, man lifts, earthmoving equipment and semi-trucks.
  • Work in a safe & clean manner.
  • Perform periodic EHS inspections in accordance with Heico and other regulatory policies. Escalate all unsafe conditions so they can be promptly address.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, metering and measurement equipment.
  • Execute safety and facility improvement projects.

Physical Demands:

  • Work overtime beyond 40 hours/week dependent on varying Business needs.
  • Work a modified shift start time as needed to support snow removal.
  • Stand and walk on a concrete surface for extended periods (approx. 3 hours/each) throughout a standard 10-hour work shift.
  • Ascend and descend work platform stairs to access installations at varying heights. Ascend and descend vertical steps of heavy equipment to access Operator’s cab.
  • Reach overhead as well as bend, crouch and kneel to floor level to access installations. Work from a laying position on a Mechanic’s creeper. Assume awkward positions for restricted-access installations.
  • Regularly lift up to 50 lbs. loads from floor level to chest level. Push or pull items exerting loads up to 50 lbs.
  • Swing heavy hammers (25 lbs.) up to chest height, tighten joints using large hand tools as well as heavy (30 lbs.) pneumatic tools.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This position is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. This position may work overtime beyond 40 hours a week dependent on various business needs.

Job Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge and demonstrable skills of Production facility maintenance, including mechanical welding, plumbing, general construction, metal fabrication, HVAC systems, overhead cranes, and vehicle maintenance.
  • Extensive knowledge in 120v, 240v, and 480v single and 3 phase electrical maintenance, including knowledge of single and 3-phase motors, and motor controls, reading schematics and 12/24v automotive type electrical systems.
  • Licensed electrician a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office is preferred
  • Valid driver’s license is required
  • High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience.
  • 4+ years of manufacturing experience; strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills with some HVAC experience.
  • Problem solving skills and understanding of Lean techniques is a plus. (Kaizen, 5S / visual management, Standard Work).
