The Position:

We are looking for a hands-on Accounting Manager who wants to be a part of an employee-centric, culture focused, hard-working organization poised for growth.  The Accounting Manager will have an enthusiastic approach to managing the accounting department, will create an environment conducive to process improvement, idea generation and system utilization at the same time providing accurate results and meeting deadlines.

The Accounting Manager will manage the accounting department, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and the monthly close process.  They will gain an understanding of all facets of our business, employees and systems and utilize that knowledge to help create accurate financial results and analysis.  They will also manage sales tax, account reconciliations and fixed assets, along with other projects as needed.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage the accounting department, including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
  • Lead and participate in, the month-end close process, ensuring that journal entries, closing activities and reports are accurate and timely
  • Perform and review account reconciliations to ensure that all balance sheet presentations are accurate
  • Analyze performance vs budget and report differences
  • Apply a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations; verify documents for completeness and compliance with government and private agencies
  • Manage fixed assets and asset tracking, calculate and book depreciation
  • Daily sales margin analysis and reporting
  • Manage the process for sales tax collections and filings
  • Develop relationships with Territory Managers (TMs), train TMs on processes and requirements that support A/R controls and maximize collections
  • Data uploads to various Corporate sites
  • Review processes, recommend improvements to streamline where possible and create new processes where needed
  • Assist in Corporate internal audits
  • Provide assistance on special projects as requested by Controller and/or corporate office

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Experience in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and month end close
  • Ability to develop relationships with individuals at all levels, including TMs, customers, vendors and other employees
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally through various mediums, including phone, e-mail and formal written communication
  • Analytical skills, including the ability to identify things that “just don’t look right”
  • Problem solving and innovation skills, including the ability to analyze, interpret, understand and successfully resolve issues within the best interests of Spartan Tool
  • Demonstrated competencies in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Outlook
  • Professionalism with consistent ability to balance urgency and decisiveness with patience and compassion
  • Discretion in managing proprietary information belonging to the company
