Position: Mechanical Engineer II (TR)

Reports To: Tire Rubber Group Leader Location/Department:

Engineering (Department No. 7161)

The Position:

This Mechanical Design Engineer II position is a member of the engineering department on a Tire and Rubber Sustaining Group. The candidate will report directly to the Project Team Leader.

Job Description:

Design new products or re-design existing products. Interfacing with sales, and or customers to develop leading edge designs, cost effective manufacturing and excellent machine performance with oversight provided by Project Team Leader.

o Utilize the most current design techniques and tools.

o Designs and BOMs must be accurate. The standard is zero defect.

o Design projects must be done in a timely manner.

o Designs must comply with all safety and ISO requirements.

o Design within the specifications for the product being mindful of cost, manufacturability, reliability and service requirements.

Assist in commissioning and debug of products.

o Assure product is as designed, proper revision control.

o Review/approve requests for changes, NCPs, RFDs, etc.

o Assure product meets specifications o Maintain a working knowledge of machine process and operation.

Work in a team environment.

o Active participant in team meetings, design reviews, machine reviews, kick-off meetings.

o Interact with other departments, including Manufacturing, TSS, Sales and Purchasing. Job Requirements:

Education

o Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3 years experience or 5 years relevant experience in machine design or industrial experience and proven performance.

Skills and Relevant Work Experience

o AutoCAD and SolidWorks proficiency preferred.

Travel Requirements: up to 25
