Job Description

The Position

The Production Supervisor is responsible for planning, scheduling, and executing Production activities in the safest, most efficient, and cost-effective manner. He/she will be devoted to safety as the #1 priority, uncompromising in quality and skilled in applying Lean methodologies to sustain a safe, clean, waste-free, efficient plant.

Key Performance Areas

Drives Business Results –

  • Enforce safety policies and procedures to decrease the potential for employee injuries.
  • Train and re-train employees on how to safely operate machinery.
  • Communicate job expectations and provide feedback to management.
  • Coordinate with the Operations Manager to determine inventory requirements, staff requirements and work procedures based on budget and time constraints.
  • Assist the Operations Manager in developing quality control systems to help identify production problems.
  • Establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences.
  • Recommend procedures for facility and equipment maintenance or replacement.
  • Prepare production reports.
  • Assist the Operations Manager in analyzing data and production schedules to determine production requirements and to evaluate production outputs.
  • Adjust work schedules as needed for unplanned absences.
  • Prepare morning roll call to include safety topics, quality issues, material shortages and daily goals.
  • Review and update ballistics board; run daily ballistics board meetings, attend S&OP meetings.
  • Review, adjust and approve time sheets, time off requests, etc.
  • Review schedule, material issues, quality issues and current build status with Team Leads.
  • Maintain crane, hoist, and equipment maintenance logs.

Job Requirements

Experience and Education:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of supervisory experience in heavy equipment manufacturing.
  • Education: Associate degree.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal communication.
  • Technology:  Strong working knowledge of MS Office and Solid Works

Other Requirements:

  • Strong Attention to detail and ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and project management skills

Supervisory Responsibility - This position supervises the production staff (assembly techs, electricians, and team lead).

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work - This is a full-time position. Work hours are Monday thru Friday, 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM. 

Travel – Minimal travel is expected for this position.

Work Environment - The position works under pressure, meeting tight deadlines, making decisions, and handling a large, challenging workload in a fast-paced environment.  The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and moving mechanical parts.

Physical Requirements - The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool, as necessary.
