Spartan Tool is seeking a highly experienced Purchasing/ Buyer to join our operations team. This person will need to effectively communicate with the product suppliers to actively buy quality product for the company. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with a Mapics MRP system on a daily basis and constantly purchasing components and parts for a fast paced assembly operation. Responsibilities will include:

  • Run and analyze MRP report at a minimum of twice a week intervals and determine authenticity of requirements.
  • Issue purchase orders to vendors assuring complete and total accuracy
  • Manage the inventory levels for raw and WIP, assuring the Company meets its overall budgeted inventory levels monthly.
  • Assure purchased products arrive timely, so that the Production Department is never delayed in its planned production needs.
  • Routinely check status of open purchase orders, requesting acceleration of delivery if required.
  • Process daily receiving transactions.
  • Produce a net cost savings annually on purchases, inclusive of currency changes
  • Identify and negotiate with potential new vendors, seeking cost savings indicated above where appropriate, as well as quality and delivery improvements.
  • Create a cost target for all products in the purview of the Product and Development process, assuring that these targets are met or exceeded in all cases.
  • Maintain accurate purchase price variance report.
  • Maintain adequate vendor files, prices, contracts and other periodic information.
  • Work safely at all times.
