The Position

The Business Development Manager works to improve an organizations market position and achieve financial growth through a focused effort on increasing sales. The successful BDM defines long-term organizational strategic goals, builds key customer relationships, identifies business opportunities, negotiates and closes business deals and maintains extensive knowledge of current market conditions.

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities

  • Through proper time management and sales research promote and increases sales activities to increase revenues and profit margins.

  • Develop potential and existing customers to establish new product sales.

  • Determine actions needed to achieve maximum profitable sales volume.

  • Identifying opportunities to expand beyond the current product offering.

  • Develop business acumen by understanding and strongly communicating the companys capabilities and advantages.

  • Create and direct sales campaigns to secure sales, to realize full market potential of customers.

  • Establish new product sales.

  • Strive to keep business visible in the Marketplace.

  • Manage sales process from prospecting, through the quotation process and completion of order.

  • Act as liaison between customer and business to insure complete customer satisfaction.

  • Keep Sales and Marketing leaders informed on sales progress by preparing accurate monthly sales reports.

  • Participate in special projects or assignments as determined by Davies management.

Job Requirements


  • Bachelors degree in business, marketing or equivalent

Skills Relevant Work Experience

  • 5 years sales/business development experience

  • Previous experience selling proprietary products through distributors and catalogs

  • Plastic industry experience preferred

  • Plastic products and process such as thermoset and thermoplastics knowledge a strong plus

  • Excellent computer skills. Proficient with MS Office platform and familiar with other business systems software

  • High levels of energy, self-motivation, and organizational ability

  • Requires strong organizational skills along with excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Critical thinking and hands on demands. May require longer hours to complete projects.

  • Available for travel 25-50 of the work week, predominantly in the Central USA
