Job Description

Primary Responsibilities


  • Support Improvements of Molding operations for Injection or Compression areas on a technical basis by owning performance of all processes within the departments.
    • Lead or assist on the implementation of new product designs, processes, installations, and upgrades.
    • Provide technical support of machines, equipment and processes relative to safety, productivity increase, elimination of scrap, reduction of secondary operation/rework and reduction of overall costs.
    • Support OEE (overall Equipment Effectiveness) improvements in the department.
  • Project management of tooling, machinery and equipment needs.
    • Sample and launch new and repaired mold tooling. Work with Tooling department and vendors to ensure optimum outcome.
    • Perform experiments of mold processes in order to perfect operations.
  • Provide Technical Training to appropriate personnel.
    • Assist with training department personnel as needed, using written work instructions or other training media.
    • Foster teamwork on special projects with department managers, production personnel and other support functions.
  • Assist with the technical aspects of Finishing operations associated with the department’s molded parts.
    • CNC’s, Laser Engraver and others as needed.
  • Develop or improve manufacturing work instructions, including Job Safety Analysis.
    • Develop and implement FMEA’s control plans and work instructions within molding department.
  • Support the company’s efforts to Drive a Zero Incidents Safety Culture.
    • Identify and improve unsafe conditions, acts and behaviors.

Significant Mental/Physical Demands of the Job

  • Plant environment- no air conditioning in summer. Physical exposure to dust, heat and plastic materials while in the plant. May at time required extended hours to complete projects.

Skills & Relevant Work Experience

  • 3 – 5 years minimum experience
  • Hands on processing experience.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office & AS400- MAPICS software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Leadership skills, coaching, mentoring or training skills preferred
  • Understanding of tooling designs
  • Knowledge of plastic processing and plastic materials
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish and English a plus
