Davis Wire, Kent is a manufacturing mill located off 80th Ave S in Kent, WA specializing in a producing a wide range of wire products. We have a 24-hour operation working over three shifts with voluntary shift selection whenever possible. This facility is part of Teamsters Local Union and membership in the union is required. Currently operating 12 days on, 2 days off (mandatory overtime every other weekend). Weekly full-time pay starts at 14/hr and increases to a minimum of 16.50/hr after probationary period.

The Position

Overall Responsibilities and Work Environment:

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for ensuring that finished products are shipped to the Companys customers in a timely and cost-effective manner and unloads raw materials such as wooden pallets, zinc and lead and so forth. The environment is a mill/production warehouse located off 80th Ave S in Kent, WA.


1st shift 7:00am-3:30pm only


Job Responsibilities:


  • Read and understand production cards, production schedules, and loading documents

  • Determine the correct equipment that is required to perform the essential job functions

  • Locate material, check product identification and weight and stage loads to ensure quick and efficient loading of the common carrier

  • Visualize loading plan and determine most efficient and safest way to load finished product on common carriers

  • Prepare loading tallies and complete other paperwork as required

  • Work with the common carrier to ensure that all finished loads are properly secured and axel weights are correct

  • Have a basic understanding of Washington Department of Transportation regulations including height, width and weight restrictions for all common carriers

  • Ability to work independently and with customers both internal and external

  • Ability to use bar code reader, RF scanners to ensure that proper product is being loaded, and basic computer skills for printing tags

  • Work with quality assurance to ensure that proper quality procedures are utilized prior to shipping finished products to the customer

  • Maintain good standards of housekeeping in general work area and observe and comply with all safety rules and regulations

  • Responsible for proper operation and minor maintenance of forklift, including driver checklist daily.

  • Maintain material in stock organized.

  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned


Job Requirements



Employment Requirements:

High School or Equivalent; good math skills; minimum 2 years experience driving a forklift in a production environment. Must have a valid WA drivers license, be able to adhere to our 12-2 schedule and be able to pass a drug screen.



Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and/or hazardous chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Outside in weather conditions and inside non-climate controlled environment.



Physical Requirements:

Must be able to work in all weather; must be able to get off and on a forklift many times per day; must be able to climb and work on elevated platforms; must be able to climb steps and ladders; must be able to stoop, bend and twist as required; and must be able to frequently lift up to 50 pounds and infrequently lift up to 90+ pounds.
