Job Description

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Manage product design and development for new or existing products.
  • Oversee new tool start ups, validation, and manufacturing projects to completion.
  • Maintain full documentation related to production mold revisions, procurement, vendor and customer qualifications.
  • Lead in strategic planning for tool design, development standards, and source selection for new and existing mold and tooling modifications.
  • Organize pins and molds and keep updated.
  • Lead implementation of new and existing product designs, processes, installations, and upgrades.
  • Provide technical support and plastic expertise to support smooth operation of equipment and processes.
  • Provide training to department personnel on new product and tooling design procedures.
  • Continually monitor and troubleshoot all processes related to the Molding & Assembly Departments to resolve technical problems.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, managers, and sales team with progress of scheduled projects.
  • Working with various departments and managers to maintain continual quality and process improvements.
  • Perform sample experiments of mold processes in order to perfect operations. Test and debug final tools prior to run off with customers.
  • Provide feasible engineering analysis and reports to support tooling needs, capacity studies, workflows, methods and processes.
  • Confer with tool vendors to expedite P.O.’s and tooling progress.
  • Create and lead teams to develop new manufacturing methods including fabrication processes, tooling & production equipment capabilities, and set-up assembly methods.
  • Support manufacturing/engineering/sales as required.


Job Requirements   


  • BS degree in Plastics Engineering, Plastics or Polymer Science and 8 years of equivalent work experience.

Skills & Relevant Work Experience

  • 3 – 5 years minimum experience in cavitations molding of precision small parts. Specific experience in compression and injection molding is preferred.
  • 4 years experience in project management
  • Computer proficiency in 3D and 2D CAD, Microsoft Office & AS400- MAPICS software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Leadership skills, coaching, mentoring or training skills preferred.
  • Knowledge of plastic processing and plastic materials
  • Knowledge of tool design and molding principles
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish and English a plus
