Job Description:
The Maintenance Technician 3 – Electrical Focus is responsible for performing advanced electrical troubleshooting and repair while also supporting full-spectrum maintenance of manufacturing equipment, facilities, and utilities. This role serves as a multi-discipline technical leader, capable of handling everything from PLC diagnostics and CNC troubleshooting to basic facility upkeep (e.g., plumbing, building systems) to ensure safe, reliable, and uninterrupted operations. This position requires a hands-on, problem-solving mindset with the ability to respond to any issue within the facility, from complex electrical faults to general maintenance needs, with urgency and professionalism. Work is performed in accordance with Bartell safety requirements, LOTO procedures, NFPA 70E/arc-flash safe work practices, OSHA requirements, applicable electrical codes, and preventative maintenance systems and processes. The role directly supports safe operations, machine uptime, quality, delivery, and overall company goals and objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Advanced Electrical & Controls (Primary Focus)
- Diagnose and repair CNC machinery, PLC-controlled systems, and industrial automation equipment
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, and control diagrams
- Troubleshoot:
- Motors, drives (VFDs/servos)
- Control panels and I/O systems
- Sensors, encoders, limit switches
- Perform root cause analysis on recurring electrical failures
- Support machine commissioning, upgrades, and retrofits
- Maintain compliance with NFPA 70E, OSHA, and arc flash requirements
- Perform preventative maintenance on all facility equipment and infrastructure.

Equipment & Mechanical Maintenance
- Perform maintenance and repair on:
- CNC machines and machine shop equipment
- Compressors, pumps, and generators
- Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Assist with mechanical breakdowns and rebuilds
- Conduct precision checks (e.g., ball bar testing, alignment)
- Perform maintenance and repair on:

Facility & Utilities Maintenance
- Maintain building systems including:
- Lighting, electrical distribution, and panels
- Fire alarm and sprinkler systems
- HVAC coordination (as applicable)
- Perform general facility upkeep, including:
- Minor plumbing repairs
- Basic carpentry and repairs
- Housekeeping and safety corrections
- Respond to facility emergencies quickly and effectively
- Maintain building systems including:

Preventative & Predictive Maintenance
- Execute and improve PM programs across electrical and mechanical systems
- Identify early signs of failure and implement corrective actions
- Support uptime and reliability initiatives

Safety & Compliance
- Maintain and update:
- LOTO procedures
- Electrical safety documentation
- Inspection records (OSHA, ISO, FM Global)
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with:
- OSHA
- NFPA 70/70E
- Company EHS standards
- Participate in hazard identification and correction (Benchmark system)
- Maintain and update:

Documentation & Systems
- Maintain accurate records of:
- Repairs and troubleshooting activities
- Electrical changes and updates
- Preventative maintenance completion
- Support audits and compliance reporting
- Including documentation compliance with ISO 9001:2015, OSHA VPP STAR, and FM Global requirements.

- Act as a technical resource for other technicians
- Assist production, assembly, and engineering teams
- Communicate effectively across departments
- Take ownership of issues and drive them to resolution
Education:
- 4-year degree and/or 10 years’ experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance at a manufacturing facility.
Skills & Relevant Work Experience:
- Strong experience with:
- CNC machinery troubleshooting
- PLC systems and ladder logic
- Industrial electrical systems
- Fanuc or similar CNC controls (preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Electrical schematics
- Mechanical drawings
- Working knowledge of:
- Motors and controls
- Hydraulics and pneumatics
- Arc Flash / NFPA 70E trained
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of safety requirements that apply to equipment and facility upkeep.
- Machining and fabrication knowledge.
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong ability to prioritize projects based on their importance to company operations.
- Strong computer skills Microsoft office suite and D365
