Job Description

  • The Shop Service Technician is required to complete all necessary documentation supporting the service & repair of all serviceable equipment, Mobile or Stationary & submit a copy of the completed Service Report to his or her manager.
  • Shop Service Technician will also report all timesheets and if required, all expense sheets to his or her manager in a timely manner.
  • Shop Service Technician is responsible for all tools and equipment assigned to them such as, but not limited to: shop service tools, stock, laptop computer, cell phone and supporting office supplies as assigned.


  • Education: Industrial Mechanic or equivalent. Machine Assembler / Maintenance Mechanic.  
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years heavy industrial equipment assembly. Experience in Recycling, Agricultural, Forestry or Mining equipment maintenance will be an asset.
  • Computer Skills: Must be capable to communicate electronically with equipment & personnel as deemed necessary. Electronic reporting is expected.


  • In-house equipment assembly, set-up, startup, with associated tooling & handling.
  • Work to acceptable Service standards, timelines, and quoted objectives.
  • Adhere to ISO 9000 based quality procedures and work instructions.
  • Write detailed technical service reports outlining failure, cause & resolution.
  • Must follow written scope of work and verbal instructions necessary to complete a task.
  • Maintain accurate Epicor timesheet and submit expense records as required within time allotted.
  • Maintain MDS & Processing repairs as scheduled & assist production during unassigned activities.
  • Responsible for parts consumed or installed into house orders or assigned repairs.
  • Responsible for all other tools to support his/her service work such as cell phones, laptop computers, etc.


  • Working knowledge with blueprints, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics.
  • Use of Welding equipment and safe rigging of heavy equipment.
  • Use of forklift and handling equipment capable & willingness to certify when required.
  • Familiar with the use of measuring tools and safe operation of hand tools including grinders, drills, mechanical saws, sanders, buffers etc.
  • Able to fit and assemble mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.
  • Receive job specific training and mentor others when required.
  • Follow and adhere to Shred-Tech’s quality systems procedures and work instructions.
  • Know, understand, and follow safe working and material handling practices.

 Other Requirements:

  • On Occasion, must be willing to travel domestically or locally, accompanied by senior technician.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license.  (A CDL would be an asset.)
  • Must hold or be able to obtain a Passport.
  • Must be willing to possess & use a company credit card for the purpose of expediting repairs.
