The Position

The Information Technology Specialist will provide front line support to end-users and will act as a conduit to any advanced systems expertise needed. The IT Specialist will administer and maintain networks, servers, and applications throughout the platform. The IT Specialist will work collaboratively with other IT team members to ensure a secure and efficient IT environment for business to be conducted.

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities

  • Works on assignments that may be moderate to extremely difficult, and which require judgement.
  • Ensure compliance with IT security measures and promptly report any security related concerns.
  • Install, configure, administer, and maintenance remote and on-premise networking, servers, and applications.
  • Adhere to change management process and configuration management best practices.
  • Performs preventive maintenance to ensure proper functioning of networks, servers, computers, and peripherals.
  • Addresses major hardware/software problems in a timely manner, engaging internal and external resources for resolution.
  • Notify affected employees, management, and IT staff when key systems are unavailable.
  • Respond in-person, via telephone, or electronically to requests for technical assistance from end-users in a timely manner.
  • Install, configure, and maintenance end-user computing devices (computers, mobile devices, printers) in the plant and remotely.
  • Ensure all helpdesk requests and subsequent actions are taken to the point of resolution.
  • Ensure all helpdesk requests are documented accurately and clearly identify the resolution.
  • Perform user account creation and provisioning of licenses and services.
  • Research hardware and software requirements and acquire formal quotes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of IT and other business objectives.
  • Participates in weekend/holiday on-call rotation periodically.

Microsoft Applications (Office & Teams), AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat, Bartender, computers, laser printers, barcode printers, copiers, cellphones, mobile computers, barcode scanners, Digital & IP Telephones, and other peripherals.

Job Requirements:

  • Must have five (5) years’ experience administering networks and servers, or have completed a two-year college degree in Information Technology.
  • Must have two (2) years’ prior experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other IT team members, but also work independently with minimum direction.
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN internetworking protocols.
  • Knowledge of networking and telecomm equipment, including firewalls, routers, switches, and cabling infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of servers, RAID controllers, storage, and virtualization.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory management, design, and maintenance (including but not limited to DNS, DHCP, AD, Group Policies).
  • Knowledge of Windows 10 and 7 desktop operating systems
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Project, and Visio.
  • Knowledge of printer hardware and experience in installation, repair and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of mobile device management.
  • Ability to maintain and manage IT assets with proper tracking and distribution.
  • Strong sense of service and good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Must possess the knowledge, intellect, temperament, and flexibility to work effectively in a fast-paced, environment.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends as situations require, sometimes without advance notice.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, and crawl.
  • Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally required to lift and/or move up to more.
  • Frequently required to use hands and fingers to operate equipment and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to talk and hear.

Work Environment:

  • When working in the general office environment the lighting and temperature (65-75 degrees) are adequate, but some dust and noise will be encountered.
  • When working in the plant environment the lighting and temperature may vary widely depending on the location and seasonal weather. The plant environment will be dusty and noisy.
  • A hardhat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel toe shoes will be worn in the plant.
