SUMMARY:

Reporting to Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer 1 will work as a team member for the New Product Introduction team. The NPI team is responsible for bringing in all new product into Wakefield Thermal’s facility as well as transforming our manufacturing to the next level, World Class manufacturing is our goal.

The Manufacturing Engineer 1 will create Quotes, Bills of Materials (BOM), routings for new products, and assist with process and design improvements. The Manufacturing engineer is a key member of our engineering team with a need for a laser focus as it relates to customer service, cost management and technical assistance within our manufacturing group.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with Sales, CNC Programmers, Purchasing, and Senior Manufacturing Engineers to develop quotes for manufacturing.
  • Develops and creates various manufacturing processes under Senior Engineering leadership.
  • Maintains and manages production documentation: Bill of Materials, Instructions, and Routings for all production.
  • Continuously evaluates quoting, NPI, and manufacturing processes for areas of improvement.
  • Continuously look for automation opportunities.
  • Creates and maintains Standard Operating Procedures, Manufacturing Instructions, and Desktop Procedures.
  • Interfaces with customers on technical questions and other relative items.
  • Design fixtures for manufacturing utilizing Solidworks. Create CAD models and drawings.
  • Participates in the contract review process to ensure manufacturing and quality process utilized meet customer expectations.
  • Assist in capital expenditure cost analysis. Evaluate ROI, time to implementation, and payback period for significant expenditures.
  • Interprets customer specifications/blueprints associated with new and existing applications.
  • Creates process and design improvements based on knowledge of the industry and manufacturing processes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or similar engineering discipline required.
  • A two year technical degree will be considered for a Manufacturing Engineering Technician role.
  • 1-3 years experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience in metal fabrication(machining, sheet metal, welding) preferred.
  • Experience in PowerBI, C++, Matlab, Java, Python not required but preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.
  • CAD/CAM experience: Solidworks, MasterCam(Preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills, with a customer centric attitude and demeanor.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A positive, go-getter attitude; willingness to be on the shop floor and work with key engineering and manufacturing leaders on design, process, and engineering projects.
