SUMMARY

The electronic technician is responsible for assembly, troubleshooting and repairing of mechanical, electrical, electronic assemblies and systems. Work includes production, refurbished components, testing, engineering prototype support, and building maintenance.


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Support company maintenance requirements for machinery, facility, and safety initiatives

    • Maintain proper preventative maintenance schedules and documentation for all shop equipment.

    • Support building system maintenance such as machine shop, compressors, tooling, and generators, lighting, fire alarms, and sprinkler systems



  • Upgrade, repair, replace machinery parts and components as needed to maintain equipment

    • Oversee the machinery to make sure it is optimal working condition.



  • Maintain Documentation

    • Maintain accurate records to meet both compliance and tracking needs. Work with the Gensuite concern reporting program to assure hazards in the building are fixed in a timely matter. Make sure all hazardous waste and universal waste are disposed of properly.



  • Support overall company electrical maintenance requirements for machinery and facility upkeep.

    • Maintain electrical support for equipment in the machine shop. Assist mechanical assembly with troubleshooting of equipment breakdown and repair. Maintain electrical support of the building, ensuring all safety codes are complied with. Maintain the building wiring inspection. Maintain all electrical safety records as required by OSHA.



  • Miscellaneous

    • Have a good attitude, start work on time, work overtime when necessary, perform good housekeeping, communicate with others, be aware of his/her area and others safety, be a good team member.

    • Utilizes strong written and oral communication skills often and consistently. Clearly understands the department objectives. Highly interactive with cross functional team members, Contractors and visitors.

  • Troubleshoot assemblies down to component level to determine root cause of failure and recommend corrective action.

  • Perform required repairs to return assembly to operational state.

  • Operate hand tools and small power tools and understand their use and function.

  • Inspect all work before passing it on to the next operation.

  • Keep supervisor appraised of all unresolved and/or potential problems that would negatively affect production schedules.

  • Fill out daily time sheets.

  • Provide support to the production leads, production supervisors, and managers on all production assignments, and working other departments (RD support) regarding special work assignments.

  • Adhere to all Safety policies and guidelines.

  • Other duties assigned.




ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE


  • Possess good problem solving skills, strong digital and analog skills, ability to troubleshoot in a logical manner.

  • Professional, clear verbal and written communication.

  • Must supply own tools

  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.





Length of experience

At least 3 years of experience in the electrical machine building field. Experience with capital equipment in the tire and rubber industry a plus.



Specialized skills/technical knowledge


  • Knowledge of 110V, 230V, 480V, and 24V DC.

  • Thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes.

  • Must have experience using the following equipment: Volt meter, hand tools, hand crimpers, screwdrivers, wrenched, and pliers.
