Davis Wire-Kent is a manufacturing mill located off 80th Ave S in Kent, WA, specializing in a producing a wide range of wire products. We have a 24-hour operation working over three shifts. Work is typically Monday through Friday schedule, although overtime is required to support weekend overtime shifts. This position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime. Hourly rate is dependent upon experience and is paid weekly.

The Position

Overall Responsibilities and Work Environment:

The Quality Control Technician is an entry level quality position. This person will perform tests and inspects products at various stages of the production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products. The work environment is a non-climate controlled mill environment. Full PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe shoes and ear plugs are required for all quality technicians as they are frequently navigating the plant floor collecting samples.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and/or hazardous chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision for physical inspection.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs, records, and evaluates chemical and physical tests necessary to control production processes or evaluate quality of in-process and finished goods (tensile, bend, torsion, acid/base chemistry)

  • Recommends corrective measures and determines corrective actions to be taken.

  • Reports deviation from quality levels and standard practice to immediate supervisor and shift foreman.

  • Ensures that practices being used are in accordance with standard practice data.

  • Provides technical assistance to department heads in project and experimental work.

  • Identifies all rejected material and assists in its reclassification and disposition.

  • Provides technical support for experimental and project work by recording and correlating operating data and results.

  • Recommends improvements in process, standard practices and product evaluation.

  • Performs process audits as determined by operating procedures and job work practices.

  • Other duties as required.

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

A successful candidate will have an interest in science, lab work, and chemical and physical properties of metal.


Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business procedures, specifications, and technical procedures.


Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.nbsp;


Ability to effectively communicate with, present information for and respond to questions from groups of managers, factory personnel, internal customers, and team members.


To perform this job successfully, an individual should be comfortable working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Must be at least intermediate skill level in Excel.


Education and Background:

High school diploma or equivalent is required.


May have some previous experience in quality control, inspection, quality lab, or quality team manufacturing experience.nbsp; May have or be pursuing an Associates Degree. nbsp;
